Abstract
The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural land in East Java Province is a serious challenge in regional development planning. This study aims to analyze the effects of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), population size, and the number of industries on land conversion during the period 2013–2021. Using a panel data regression approach with the Random Effect Model (REM), the results show that GRDP has a positive and significant effect on land conversion, indicating that economic growth tends to drive land-use change. In contrast, population size has a negative and significant effect, which may reflect more efficient land management efforts in densely populated areas. Meanwhile, the number of industries does not show a significant effect on land conversion. These findings highlight the importance of sustainable spatial planning policies to control land conversion without hindering economic development
