Abstract
This research aims to analyze the role of social capital in supporting the internal migration decisions of the population in Panji District, Situbondo Regency, and the Spillover Effect of internal migration in Panji District, Situbondo Regency. This research is qualitative in nature with a phenomenological approach, and the methods used are purposive and snowball sampling. The research findings indicate that the role of social capital in migration decisions is determined by trust, social networks, and social norms, which have a significant influence on migration decision-making. Additionally, the Spillover Effect of internal migration by migrants has a positive impact on the Panji District community, encouraging similar migration. The research also finds that education does not guarantee someone's decision to engage in internal migration. Some migrants have bachelor's degrees but face challenges such as difficulty finding employment after obtaining their degrees and the increasing possibility of jobs that do not necessarily require specific majors. Furthermore, the research reveals that migrants from Panji District often choose to return to their hometown rather than settle in their destination area.
